What it is
Laser treatment for skin surface quality
Laser resurfacing uses controlled light energy to address the surface and sub-surface layers of the skin. It targets concerns including uneven texture, enlarged pores, dullness and surface irregularities that develop over time as a result of sun exposure, ageing and environmental factors.
Depending on the device used, resurfacing can work on the skin's surface — removing damaged outer layers to reveal fresher skin beneath — or within the deeper dermal layers to stimulate collagen and improve overall skin quality without significant surface disruption.
At Regenesis we use three laser platforms for resurfacing, selected based on your skin type, the nature of your concerns and the level of downtime you are prepared for. All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners following a thorough skin assessment.

Technology used
Devices at Regenesis
Your practitioner will determine which device or combination of devices is most appropriate for your skin and concerns at consultation. Each platform approaches resurfacing differently and is suited to different presentations and downtime tolerances.
What to expect
The treatment experience
Your first appointment begins with a skin assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and determine which device is most appropriate for your skin type and downtime tolerance. Your skin will be cleansed at the start of your appointment.
During treatment, the laser handpiece is passed over the treatment area in a controlled pattern. The sensation varies by device — you may feel warmth, a mild tingling or a slight prickling depending on the platform used. Sessions typically take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the area being treated.
After treatment your skin may feel warm and appear flushed. Depending on the device used, you may experience a mild peeling or flaking phase over the following days as the skin renews. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare guidance at your appointment.
Sessions + Downtime
Treatment plan and recovery
A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended for laser resurfacing. Results are progressive — skin quality continues to improve between sessions as collagen remodelling occurs. Sessions are spaced 4 weeks apart to allow full recovery and skin renewal between treatments.
Downtime is typically 3 to 5 days depending on the device used and treatment intensity. You may experience redness, mild swelling, dryness and a peeling or flaking phase as the skin renews. Makeup may not sit smoothly on the skin surface for approximately 4 days following some treatments. Most clients manage this with minimal disruption to their routine.
Sun protection is essential throughout your treatment course and beyond. Freshly resurfaced skin is particularly sensitive to UV exposure and must be protected with SPF 50+ daily.
