What it is
Fractional RF microneedling for skin remodelling
Exion Fractional is a fractional radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment that combines the physical stimulus of microneedling with the thermal stimulus of RF energy delivered directly into the dermis. Fine needles penetrate the skin to a controlled depth, releasing RF energy at the tip — targeting the deeper tissue layers where collagen remodelling takes place.
Unlike surface-level treatments, Exion Fractional works at a deeper level in the skin structure. The combination of mechanical and thermal stimuli may support a more robust collagen response than either approach alone. The fractional delivery pattern means that a portion of the skin surface remains untreated at any one time, which may support a more manageable recovery compared to fully ablative approaches.
All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners at Regenesis following a thorough skin assessment. As with all treatments, individual responses vary and suitability is confirmed at consultation before any treatment begins.

Technology used
How Exion Fractional works
Exion Fractional uses an array of fine needles to penetrate the skin at a controlled depth. RF energy is then released at the needle tip within the dermis. The AI-guided system monitors energy delivery throughout the session, aiming to maintain a consistent therapeutic response in the tissue.
What to expect
The treatment experience
Your first appointment begins with a skin assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and confirm the treatment areas, depth settings and approach. Your skin will be cleansed at the start of your appointment. If topical anaesthetic is required, your practitioner will advise you on application instructions prior to your appointment.
During treatment, the Exion Fractional handpiece is passed over the treatment area. Most clients describe a sensation of pressure and warmth during the procedure. Individual tolerance and comfort levels vary. Sessions typically take between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the area being treated.
After treatment the skin in the treated area will typically appear red and feel warm — similar in appearance to a moderate sunburn. Some pinpoint bleeding or mild swelling may also be present. These responses are expected and typically begin to settle over the following 24 to 48 hours, though individual recovery timelines vary.
Sessions + Downtime
Treatment plan and recovery
A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended for Exion Fractional. Sessions are typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to allow adequate recovery and collagen remodelling between treatments. The skin's response continues to develop progressively in the weeks following each session.
Downtime is typically 2 to 4 days for most clients, though this varies depending on treatment depth, the area treated and individual skin response. During recovery you may experience redness, mild swelling, dryness and some peeling or flaking as the skin renews. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare instructions at your appointment.
Sun protection is particularly important following this treatment. The skin is more vulnerable in the days following treatment and UV exposure should be avoided where possible. Daily SPF 50+ is recommended throughout and following your treatment course.
As with all treatments that involve skin disruption, there are risks associated with Exion Fractional. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant risks and aftercare requirements at your consultation before proceeding.
