Laser hair reduction using the Clarity II

Laser hair removal at Regenesis uses the Clarity II — a dual-wavelength platform with both Nd:YAG 1064nm and Alexandrite 755nm wavelengths. This combination makes it one of the most versatile laser hair reduction platforms available, with the ability to safely and effectively treat a broad range of skin tones and hair types.

Laser hair reduction works by delivering light energy into the hair follicle. The energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, generating heat that disrupts the follicle's ability to produce new hair growth. Over a course of treatments, this leads to a progressive and lasting reduction in hair density and regrowth.

All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners following a thorough skin and hair assessment at consultation. Pricing is determined at consultation based on the treatment area.

Device at Regenesis

Laser hair removal at Regenesis is performed exclusively with the Clarity II — a platform chosen for its ability to treat safely and effectively across a wide range of skin tones.

Clarity II
Dual-wavelength Nd:YAG 1064nm and Alexandrite 755nm platform. The 755nm Alexandrite wavelength is well suited for lighter skin tones with darker hair. The 1064nm Nd:YAG is safe and effective across all skin tones including darker complexions. The Clarity II's IntelliTrak technology ensures consistent, even energy delivery across the treatment area. The treatment experience

Your first appointment begins with a skin and hair assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin type, hair colour and density, and the treatment area. A patch test is typically conducted prior to your first full treatment session. Pricing for your chosen treatment area is confirmed at this appointment.

On the day of treatment, the area will be cleansed and shaved if required. The laser handpiece is passed over the treatment area. You may feel a snapping or warm sensation with each pulse — the Clarity II's cooling system assists with comfort throughout the session. Session duration varies by treatment area, from approximately 15 minutes for a small area to 60 minutes or more for larger areas.

After treatment you may notice mild redness and a warm sensation in the treated area — this typically settles within a few hours. You can return to their normal routine the same day in most cases.

Treatment plan and maintenance

A minimum of 6 sessions is recommended for laser hair reduction. Hair grows in cycles, and the laser can only effectively target follicles in the active growth phase. Multiple sessions are required to treat follicles as they cycle through this phase. The interval between sessions varies by treatment area — typically starting at 4 weeks for facial areas and 6 to 8 weeks for body areas.

Most clients achieve a significant reduction in hair growth following their initial course. Ongoing maintenance treatments are typically required to manage regrowth over time — the frequency of maintenance varies by individual.

Downtime is little to none. You may experience mild redness and warmth in the treated area for a few hours following treatment. Avoid sun exposure, heat and friction in the treated area for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.

Sun protection is important throughout your treatment course. Tanned or sun-damaged skin can affect the safety and effectiveness of treatment and sun exposure should be avoided in the weeks before and after each session.

Common questions

Is laser hair removal suitable for all skin types?+
The Clarity II's dual-wavelength capability makes it suitable across a broad range of skin tones — including darker complexions where some single-wavelength platforms require more caution. The appropriate wavelength and settings are selected based on your individual skin type at consultation. Your practitioner will assess your skin and confirm suitability before treatment begins.
Does laser hair removal work on all hair colours?+
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair follicle. It is most appropriate on darker hair colours — black, dark brown and medium brown. Very light blonde, red, grey or white hair contains little pigment and generally does not respond well to laser treatment. Your practitioner will assess your hair colour at consultation and advise on what to expect.
How should I prepare for my appointment?+
Avoid sun exposure and tanning in the treatment area for at least 4 weeks before your appointment. Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your session — do not wax, thread or use depilatory creams, as these remove the hair follicle that the laser needs to target. Your skin will be cleansed at the start of your appointment. Arrive with clean, product-free skin in the treatment area.
How many sessions will I need?+
A minimum of 6 sessions is recommended. Most clients require between 6 and 10 sessions for their initial course, followed by periodic maintenance treatments. The number of sessions varies by treatment area, hair type, skin type and individual response. Your practitioner will provide a more personalised estimate at your initial consultation.
What should I avoid after treatment?+
Avoid sun exposure to the treated area for at least 2 weeks after treatment. Avoid heat — including hot showers, saunas and vigorous exercise — for 24 to 48 hours. Do not wax, thread or use depilatory creams between sessions. Shaving between sessions is fine. Keep the treated area moisturised and apply SPF 50+ if the area is exposed to sunlight.
Are there any risks or side effects?+
Potential side effects include temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling and skin sensitivity in the treated area. In some cases, pigmentation changes may occur — this risk is higher with sun-exposed or tanned skin and is minimised by avoiding sun exposure before and after treatment. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant risks at your consultation.
Is this treatment safe during pregnancy?+
Laser treatments are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please advise your practitioner before booking.
