Emsculpt
High-intensity focused electromagnetic technology for muscle stimulation and body definition

What it is
Electromagnetic muscle stimulation for body definition
Emsculpt uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to induce powerful muscle contractions in the targeted area. These supramaximal contractions — contractions beyond what is achievable through voluntary exercise — stimulate a muscle adaptation and remodelling response in the treated muscle group over the course of treatment.
Emsculpt is a body treatment focused specifically on muscle — it is distinct from fat reduction or skin tightening treatments. It may be considered by individuals looking to address muscle tone and definition in specific areas, or as a complement to an existing exercise programme. As with all treatments, individual responses vary considerably depending on starting muscle condition, lifestyle, nutrition and consistency of treatment.
All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners at Regenesis following a thorough assessment. Suitability is confirmed at consultation before any treatment begins.

Technology used
How Emsculpt works
Emsculpt delivers focused electromagnetic energy through applicators placed on the skin surface. The electromagnetic field penetrates through skin and fat to reach the underlying muscle tissue, inducing contractions that are not achievable through voluntary exercise. The muscle responds to this repeated stimulation with an adaptation response over the treatment course.
What to expect
The treatment experience
Your first appointment begins with a body assessment. Your practitioner will assess the treatment area, discuss your goals and confirm whether Emsculpt is appropriate for your situation. Pricing is confirmed at this appointment.
During treatment, the Emsculpt applicators are secured to the treatment area. The intensity of the electromagnetic stimulation is gradually increased throughout the session. You will feel strong muscle contractions — the experience is unusual but most clients find it tolerable once the intensity has been adjusted to an appropriate level. Sessions take approximately 30 minutes per treatment area.
Following treatment, the treated muscle group may feel similar to the sensation of post-exercise muscle fatigue. Some mild soreness in the treated area in the 24 to 48 hours following treatment is not uncommon. Most clients are able to return to their normal routine shortly after their appointment, though this varies by individual.
Sessions + Downtime
Treatment plan and maintenance
A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for Emsculpt, spaced 2 to 3 days apart for the initial course. The interval between sessions is important — the muscle requires adequate recovery time between treatment sessions. Maintenance sessions are typically recommended following the initial course to sustain the muscle adaptation response over time.
Downtime is generally minimal for most clients. The most commonly reported response following treatment is mild muscle soreness in the treated area — similar to delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) following exercise. This typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours in most cases, though individual responses vary.
As with all treatments, the degree to which Emsculpt may influence muscle tone and definition varies considerably between individuals and depends on a range of factors including starting muscle condition, lifestyle and nutrition. Realistic expectations are discussed at consultation.
