What it is
Hydrodermabrasion for cleansing, exfoliation and hydration
Aquapeel is a hydrodermabrasion treatment that uses a vortex-based tip to simultaneously exfoliate the skin's surface, extract congestion from the pores and deliver hydrating and active solutions into the skin. The treatment combines three steps — cleansing, exfoliation and infusion — in a single procedure.
Unlike traditional microdermabrasion which uses physical abrasion to remove the outer skin layers, hydrodermabrasion uses water-based solutions and suction to deliver a gentler approach to surface exfoliation and pore cleansing. This may make it a more comfortable option for a broader range of skin types, including those with mild sensitivity — though suitability is confirmed at consultation.
All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners at Regenesis. The serums and solutions used are selected based on your skin assessment at each appointment.

What to expect
The treatment experience
Your appointment begins with a skin assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin and select the most appropriate serums and solutions for your session based on your current skin condition and concerns. The Aquapeel treatment is performed without needles and generally does not require topical anaesthetic.
01
Cleanse
The skin is cleansed to remove surface impurities, makeup and SPF in preparation for the treatment.
02
Exfoliation + Extraction
The Aquapeel handpiece uses a vortex tip and gentle suction to exfoliate the skin's surface while simultaneously drawing out congestion and impurities from the pores. A mild exfoliating solution is delivered during this step. Most clients find this step comfortable — individual experiences vary.
03
Active Serum Infusion
Following exfoliation and extraction, active serums selected for your skin's concerns are infused into the freshly cleansed skin. The specific serums used depend on your skin assessment and may target hydration, pigmentation, sebaceous activity or overall skin quality.
04
Finish + Protect
The session concludes with appropriate moisturisation and SPF. Your practitioner will provide aftercare guidance and home care recommendations based on your skin's needs.
Sessions + Downtime
Treatment plan and maintenance
Aquapeel is typically recommended every 4 to 6 weeks as part of an ongoing skin maintenance programme. It may be used as a standalone treatment or alongside other clinical treatments as a complementary cleansing and hydration step.
Downtime is generally minimal for most clients. Some clients may notice mild redness or skin sensitivity in the hours following treatment. Most clients are able to return to their normal routine shortly after their appointment, though individual responses vary.
Sun protection is recommended following treatment. Daily SPF 50+ is advisable, particularly in the days following your appointment as freshly exfoliated skin may be more sensitive to UV exposure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions
Is this treatment appropriate for my skin type?+
Aquapeel is generally well tolerated across a broad range of skin types including oily, combination, dry and mildly sensitive skin. The serums and solutions used are selected based on your individual skin assessment at each appointment. Suitability is confirmed at consultation — if you have very reactive or compromised skin your practitioner will advise on whether a modified approach is more appropriate.
How does Aquapeel differ from traditional microdermabrasion?+
Traditional microdermabrasion uses physical abrasion — typically crystals or a diamond tip — to remove the outer skin layers. Aquapeel uses water-based solutions and vortex suction to exfoliate and extract simultaneously, which is generally considered a gentler approach with less surface disruption. Aquapeel also delivers active serums into the skin during the treatment, which traditional microdermabrasion does not.
How often should I have this treatment?+
Aquapeel is typically recommended every 4 to 6 weeks as part of an ongoing skin maintenance programme. The appropriate frequency for your skin will be discussed at your initial consultation and may be adjusted based on your skin's response over time.
Can I have this treatment alongside other clinical treatments?+
Yes — Aquapeel is often used as a complementary treatment alongside laser, needling or energy-based procedures. The timing and sequencing of treatments in your plan will be discussed at consultation. Your practitioner will advise on the most appropriate approach for your overall skin plan.
How should I prepare for my appointment?+
Your practitioner will cleanse the skin at the start of your appointment. Avoid retinoids and strong exfoliating acids for 3 to 5 days prior to your appointment. Let your practitioner know about any new products you have introduced, any changes to your skin or any medications you are taking. Avoid sun exposure for 48 hours before your appointment.
Are there any risks or side effects?+
Potential side effects include temporary redness and mild sensitivity in the hours following treatment. In some cases, those with very sensitive or reactive skin may experience a more pronounced response. Your practitioner will assess your skin prior to treatment and discuss any relevant considerations at your appointment.
Is this treatment recommended during pregnancy?+
Some active serums used during Aquapeel treatments may not be recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please advise your practitioner before booking — a modified approach using pregnancy-appropriate products may be available.
