Chemical peel treatments at Regenesis Aesthetic + Wellness, Kent Town SA

Professional peels for skin texture, tone and quality

Chemical peels use controlled acid solutions to support the skin's natural exfoliation and renewal process. By applying an active solution to the skin's surface, a peel encourages the outer layers of the skin to shed — revealing fresher skin beneath and, depending on the depth of the peel, stimulating renewal in the deeper dermal layers.

At Regenesis, a range of professional peel options are available — from gentle, low-downtime formulations suitable for skin maintenance, to more active resurfacing options for clients with specific skin quality concerns. The appropriate peel for your skin is determined at consultation based on your skin type, current condition, concerns and downtime tolerance.

All peel treatments are performed by qualified practitioners at Regenesis. As with all treatments, individual responses vary and suitability is confirmed before any treatment begins.

Skin concerns

Chemical peel treatments may assist with the following concerns depending on the peel selected. Suitability is confirmed at consultation.

  • Uneven skin texture and surface congestion
  • Dull or low-quality skin appearance
  • Mild to moderate pigmentation and uneven tone
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines and early skin ageing
  • Acne-prone and congested skin
  • Sun damage and surface irregularities
  • General skin quality maintenance

The treatment experience

Your first appointment begins with a skin assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin type, current condition and the concerns you want to address, and recommend the most appropriate peel formulation based on this assessment and your downtime tolerance.

During treatment, the peel solution is applied to cleansed skin. The sensation during application varies by formulation — you may feel mild tingling, warmth or a brief stinging sensation depending on the specific peel used. The solution is timed, then neutralised and removed, and appropriate aftercare products are applied.

Following treatment, the skin response varies considerably by peel depth — from mild redness and dryness with gentler options to more pronounced surface renewal with deeper formulations. Your practitioner will set clear expectations at your appointment based on the specific peel recommended for your skin.

Treatment plan and recovery

Chemical peels are typically recommended as a course of sessions — commonly 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart — or as periodic maintenance treatments. The appropriate interval varies by peel depth and individual skin response.

Downtime varies considerably by formulation. Gentle peels are generally associated with minimal surface change and little to no visible recovery for most clients. Deeper formulations involve a more pronounced peeling response over several days. Your practitioner will discuss expected downtime specific to the formulation recommended at your consultation.

Sun protection is essential following any peel treatment. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to UV exposure and daily broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is required throughout and following your treatment course.

As with all treatments, risks are associated with chemical peels. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant risks and aftercare requirements at your consultation before any treatment proceeds.

Common questions

How do I know which peel is right for me?+
The appropriate peel formulation is determined at consultation based on your skin type, current condition, the concerns you want to address and your tolerance for downtime. There is no single peel that suits all skin types or concerns — a skin assessment is required before any peel is recommended. Your practitioner will discuss the options and explain what to expect from each before proceeding.
What is the difference between a superficial, medium and deep peel?+
Peel depth refers to how far into the skin the active solution penetrates. Superficial peels work primarily at the outer skin layers, are generally associated with minimal downtime and are suitable for maintenance and mild concerns. Medium-depth peels penetrate further and typically involve more pronounced surface renewal and a longer recovery. Deep peels are not performed at Regenesis. The peels available at Regenesis span gentle to medium-depth options — the appropriate depth is determined by your skin assessment at consultation.
Is this treatment appropriate for my skin type?+
Chemical peels are available across a range of skin types, however the appropriate formulation varies considerably by skin tone and type. Darker skin tones require particularly careful peel selection due to the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. Your practitioner will assess your skin at consultation and recommend the most appropriate and appropriate formulation for your individual skin.
How should I prepare for my appointment?+
Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 1 to 2 weeks before treatment. Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for 5 to 7 days prior unless otherwise directed. Your practitioner will cleanse the skin at the start of your appointment. Let your practitioner know about any medications you are taking, any recent skin treatments and any active skin conditions. Depending on the peel selected, your practitioner may recommend a pre-treatment home care programme — this will be discussed at your consultation.
Are there any risks or side effects?+
Potential side effects include temporary redness, sensitivity, dryness and peeling — the extent of which varies by peel depth and individual response. In some cases, pigmentation changes, skin reactions or infection may occur. Risks are managed through careful pre-treatment assessment, appropriate formulation selection and thorough aftercare. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant risks at your consultation before proceeding.
Is this treatment recommended during pregnancy?+
Professional chemical peel treatments are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please advise your practitioner before booking.

Good to Know

The appropriate peel for your skin is determined at consultation — not all peels suit all skin types or concerns.

Daily SPF 50+ is essential throughout and following your peel course. UV exposure is a primary driver of pigmentation and can compromise your treatment response.

Downtime varies considerably between formulations — discuss this with your practitioner before your appointment.
