What it is
Non-invasive laser treatment for snoring
Nightlase is a non-invasive, non-surgical laser treatment developed by Fotona that targets the oral tissue to address snoring and mild sleep-disordered breathing. It uses controlled laser energy delivered to the soft palate and surrounding oral tissue, inducing a tightening and collagen remodelling effect that can reduce the vibration responsible for snoring.
Unlike surgical approaches or oral devices, Nightlase involves no incisions, generally no anaesthetic required, no foreign materials and generally little to generally little to no downtime. The treatment is performed entirely in-clinic by a qualified practitioner using the Fotona laser.
Nightlase is appropriate for individuals experiencing primary snoring or mild sleep-disordered breathing. It is not a replacement for medical assessment or treatment of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Individuals with suspected OSA should consult their medical practitioner before considering Nightlase.

What to expect
The treatment experience
Your first appointment begins with an assessment of your snoring concerns and a review of your health history. Your practitioner will confirm suitability and discuss what the treatment involves. It is important to advise your practitioner of any history of sleep apnoea, respiratory conditions or relevant medications before treatment begins.
During treatment, the laser handpiece is positioned inside the mouth and directed at the soft palate and oral tissue. You will feel a gentle warmth during the treatment. Sessions typically take between 20 and 30 minutes. Anaesthetic is not typically required and the procedure is generally well tolerated.
There is generally little to generally little to no downtime. You can eat, drink and speak normally immediately after your appointment. Some clients notice a mild warm or sensitive feeling in the treated area for a short time following treatment — this settles quickly.
Sessions + Downtime
Treatment plan and maintenance
A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for Nightlase. Sessions are typically spaced as directed by your practitioner — usually 3 to 4 weeks apart for the initial course. The collagen remodelling effect develops progressively over the treatment course.
Maintenance sessions are typically recommended to sustain outcomes over time. The frequency of maintenance varies by individual and will be discussed at your consultation following the initial course.
Downtime is generally minimal with Nightlase. You can return to normal activities immediately following each session.
