Nightlase snoring treatment at Regenesis Aesthetic + Wellness, Kent Town SA

Non-invasive laser treatment for snoring

Nightlase is a non-invasive, non-surgical laser treatment developed by Fotona that targets the oral tissue to address snoring and mild sleep-disordered breathing. It uses controlled laser energy delivered to the soft palate and surrounding oral tissue, inducing a tightening and collagen remodelling effect that can reduce the vibration responsible for snoring.

Unlike surgical approaches or oral devices, Nightlase involves no incisions, generally no anaesthetic required, no foreign materials and generally little to generally little to no downtime. The treatment is performed entirely in-clinic by a qualified practitioner using the Fotona laser.

Nightlase is appropriate for individuals experiencing primary snoring or mild sleep-disordered breathing. It is not a replacement for medical assessment or treatment of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Individuals with suspected OSA should consult their medical practitioner before considering Nightlase.

Concerns and applications

This treatment may assist with the following concerns. Suitability is determined at consultation.

  • Primary snoring
  • Mild sleep-disordered breathing
  • Laxity of the soft palate and oral tissue associated with snoring
  • Snoring associated with ageing-related tissue changes

Nightlase is not a treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea. If you have been diagnosed with or suspect you may have OSA, please consult your doctor before booking.

Device at Regenesis

Nightlase is performed exclusively with the Fotona laser — a dual-wavelength medical-grade laser system used across a range of skin and tissue applications at Regenesis.

Fotona — Nightlase Protocol
The Fotona Nightlase protocol delivers controlled Er:YAG laser energy to the oral mucosa and soft palate. The thermal effect stimulates collagen remodelling and tightening of the tissue, reducing the laxity that contributes to snoring. The treatment is performed entirely within the mouth with no external skin contact. From $650 per session

The treatment experience

Your first appointment begins with an assessment of your snoring concerns and a review of your health history. Your practitioner will confirm suitability and discuss what the treatment involves. It is important to advise your practitioner of any history of sleep apnoea, respiratory conditions or relevant medications before treatment begins.

During treatment, the laser handpiece is positioned inside the mouth and directed at the soft palate and oral tissue. You will feel a gentle warmth during the treatment. Sessions typically take between 20 and 30 minutes. Anaesthetic is not typically required and the procedure is generally well tolerated.

There is generally little to generally little to no downtime. You can eat, drink and speak normally immediately after your appointment. Some clients notice a mild warm or sensitive feeling in the treated area for a short time following treatment — this settles quickly.

Treatment plan and maintenance

A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for Nightlase. Sessions are typically spaced as directed by your practitioner — usually 3 to 4 weeks apart for the initial course. The collagen remodelling effect develops progressively over the treatment course.

Maintenance sessions are typically recommended to sustain outcomes over time. The frequency of maintenance varies by individual and will be discussed at your consultation following the initial course.

Downtime is generally minimal with Nightlase. You can return to normal activities immediately following each session.

Common questions

Is Nightlase suitable for sleep apnoea?+
Nightlase is designed for primary snoring and mild sleep-disordered breathing. It is not a treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). If you have been diagnosed with OSA or suspect you may have it, please consult your doctor or a sleep specialist before considering Nightlase. Your practitioner will discuss your health history at consultation to confirm suitability.
Is the treatment painful?+
Nightlase is generally well tolerated. Most clients describe a sensation of gentle warmth inside the mouth during treatment. Anaesthetic is not typically required. Some clients notice mild sensitivity in the treated area for a short time after the session.
How should I prepare for my appointment?+
No specific preparation is required. Arrive to your appointment having eaten normally. Let your practitioner know about any medications you are taking and any relevant health history, particularly relating to sleep, breathing or oral health. Advise your practitioner of any history of cold sores as laser treatment in the oral area can occasionally trigger a recurrence in susceptible individuals.
How many sessions will I need?+
A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for the initial course. The collagen remodelling response develops progressively across the treatment course. Maintenance sessions are typically recommended to sustain outcomes over time. Your practitioner will discuss a recommended plan at your initial consultation.
Are there any risks or side effects?+
Nightlase is generally well tolerated with minimal side effects. Temporary warmth and mild sensitivity in the treated oral tissue are the most common responses. In individuals with a history of oral cold sores, there is a small risk of triggering a recurrence following treatment. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant considerations at your consultation.
Is Nightlase safe during pregnancy?+
Laser treatments are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please advise your practitioner before booking.
