Keralase hair restoration treatment at Regenesis Aesthetic + Wellness, Kent Town SA

Laser-assisted hair restoration for the scalp

Keralase is a hair restoration treatment that combines the LaseMD fractional thulium laser with the topical application of KeraFactor serum — a growth factor solution formulated specifically to support scalp health and hair follicle activity.

The LaseMD laser creates micro-channels in the scalp, supporting the absorption of the KeraFactor serum into the tissue beneath the skin's surface. This targeted delivery of active growth factors directly into the scalp environment supports follicle function and may assist in addressing thinning hair and scalp health concerns.

All treatments are performed by qualified practitioners following a thorough assessment at consultation. Keralase is suitable for both men and women experiencing hair thinning and is a non-surgical, non-injectable approach to scalp and hair health.

Hair and scalp concerns

This treatment may assist with the following concerns. Suitability is determined at consultation.

  • Hair thinning in men and women
  • Diffuse hair loss associated with age or hormonal changes
  • Scalp health and scalp environment support
  • Hair density and overall hair quality
  • Post-partum hair thinning (assessed case by case)
  • Hair thinning associated with stress or nutritional factors (as part of a broader plan)

How Keralase works

Keralase combines two components — the LaseMD laser and the KeraFactor serum — to deliver a targeted treatment to the scalp.

LaseMD + KeraFactor
The LaseMD non-ablative fractional thulium laser creates controlled micro-channels in the scalp. The KeraFactor serum — containing biomimetic growth factors and skin proteins — is then applied topically and absorbed through these channels into the deeper tissue layers. This combination delivers active ingredients directly to the scalp environment where they are most needed. From $425 per session

The treatment experience

Your first appointment begins with a scalp and hair assessment. Your practitioner will assess the extent and pattern of your hair thinning, your scalp health and your overall health history to confirm suitability and recommend a treatment plan. Your scalp will be cleansed at the start of your appointment.

During treatment, the LaseMD laser handpiece is passed over the scalp in the thinning areas. You may feel a mild tingling or warm sensation. The KeraFactor serum is then applied to the scalp and absorbed through the micro-channels created by the laser. Sessions typically take between 30 and 45 minutes.

After treatment your scalp may feel slightly sensitive and appear mildly flushed. This typically settles within a few hours. Downtime is minimal — most clients return to their normal routine the same day.

Treatment plan and recovery

A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended for Keralase. Hair restoration is a gradual process and results develop progressively over the treatment course and the months following. Sessions are spaced 4 weeks apart to allow the scalp to respond between treatments.

Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild scalp sensitivity, redness and a tight feeling for 1 to 2 days following treatment. Avoid washing your hair for 24 hours after each session to allow the serum to continue absorbing. Avoid heat styling and vigorous scalp friction for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.

For the best individual response, Keralase is often recommended as part of a broader hair health plan that may include appropriate home care and nutritional support. Your practitioner will discuss this at consultation.

Common questions

Is Keralase suitable for all types of hair loss?+
Keralase is most appropriate for diffuse hair thinning associated with age, hormonal changes or environmental factors. It is not designed for androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) where the follicles are significantly miniaturised or dormant, though it may be used as part of a broader management approach. It is not appropriate for alopecia areata or scarring alopecia. Your practitioner will assess your hair and scalp at consultation and advise on whether Keralase is appropriate for your specific situation.
Is this treatment suitable for both men and women?+
Yes. Keralase is suitable for both men and women experiencing hair thinning. The treatment approach may vary slightly based on the pattern and cause of thinning, which will be assessed at consultation.
How should I prepare for my appointment?+
Arrive with clean hair and a clean scalp — avoid applying any products (oils, serums, dry shampoo) to the scalp on the day of your appointment. Avoid vigorous scalp massage or treatments in the 48 hours prior. Let your practitioner know about any medications you are taking or any recent changes to your health.
When will I see results?+
Hair restoration is a gradual process. Some clients notice changes in scalp health and hair texture relatively early in their treatment course. More noticeable changes in hair density and growth typically develop over 3 to 6 months following completion of the initial treatment course. Individual responses vary and realistic expectations will be discussed at consultation.
How many sessions will I need?+
A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended. Ongoing maintenance sessions may be recommended after completing the initial course. Your practitioner will provide a personalised plan at consultation based on your hair and scalp assessment.
Are there any risks or side effects?+
Keralase is generally well tolerated. Potential side effects include temporary scalp sensitivity, redness and mild swelling following treatment. These typically resolve within 1 to 2 days. Your practitioner will discuss all relevant considerations at your consultation.
Is this treatment safe during pregnancy?+
Laser treatments are generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please advise your practitioner before booking.
