Non-invasive facial muscle and dermal collagen remodelling

Emface is a non-invasive facial treatment by BTL that simultaneously addresses two key contributors to facial ageing — muscle tone and dermal collagen. Using a combination of Synchronised Radiofrequency (RF) and High-Intensity Facial Electromagnetic Stimulation (HIFES), Emface targets both the muscles and the skin in a single treatment.

As facial muscles weaken with age, they lose their ability to support and lift the overlying skin. Emface stimulates the facial muscles to contract, while the RF energy simultaneously works within the dermis to support collagen remodelling. The combination of these two actions addresses the structure beneath the skin as well as the skin itself.

The treatment is performed without needles, without surgery, without anaesthetic and with generally little to no downtime. All sessions are performed by qualified practitioners at Regenesis.

Skin and facial concerns

This treatment may assist with the following concerns. Suitability is determined at consultation.

  • Loss of facial muscle tone and definition
  • Skin laxity on the face and neck
  • Flattening of facial contour over time
  • Reduced skin density and collagen quality
  • Overall facial tone and structural support
  • Skin quality improvement without injectables

How Emface works

Emface uses two energies simultaneously — delivered via hands-free applicators placed on the face during treatment.

Emface — BTL
Synchronised RF heats the dermis to support collagen and elastin remodelling, while HIFES (High-Intensity Facial Electromagnetic Stimulation) induces targeted facial muscle contractions. The two energies are delivered simultaneously through hands-free applicators, working together to address both the muscular and dermal layers of the face. Pricing on consultation

The treatment experience

Your first appointment begins with a facial assessment. Your practitioner will assess your skin and facial structure, discuss your concerns and confirm the treatment is appropriate for you. Your skin will be cleansed at the start of your appointment.

During treatment, hands-free applicators are positioned on the face. You will feel warmth from the RF energy and a series of muscle contractions from the HIFES stimulation — these are controlled and generally well tolerated. Sessions take approximately 20 minutes.

Downtime is generally minimal. Your skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after treatment — this settles quickly. You can typically return to their normal routine shortly after following each session.

Treatment plan and maintenance

A minimum of 4 sessions is recommended for Emface, delivered weekly. The initial course is designed to progressively build muscle tone and stimulate collagen remodelling over the treatment period. Results continue to develop in the weeks following the completion of the course as the tissue responds.

Maintenance sessions are typically recommended following the initial course to sustain and build on outcomes over time. The frequency of maintenance varies by individual and will be discussed at your consultation.

Downtime is generally minimal. Emface is one of the most time-efficient facial treatments available — 20 minutes per session, generally generally no recovery period required required.

Common questions

Is Emface suitable for all skin types?+
Emface is suitable across a broad range of skin types and tones. As with all treatments, suitability is confirmed at a consultation with your practitioner. Certain medical conditions or implanted devices may affect suitability — these will be assessed as part of your consultation.
Is Emface painful?+
Most clients find Emface comfortable. You will feel warmth from the RF energy and muscle contractions from the HIFES stimulation — the intensity is adjustable and is set at a level appropriate for your comfort. The muscle contractions can feel unusual at first but are generally well tolerated.
How does Emface differ from injectables?+
Injectables address specific targeted areas — relaxing muscles or adding volume. Emface takes a different approach, working to strengthen and tone the facial muscles while remodelling the dermis. It does not add volume, replace injectables or target individual lines. Rather, it addresses the underlying muscle and skin structure of the face as a whole. Some clients use Emface alongside injectables as part of a broader treatment plan — your practitioner can advise on whether this approach is appropriate for you.
How many sessions will I need?+
A minimum of 4 sessions delivered weekly is recommended for the initial course. Maintenance sessions are typically recommended afterwards to sustain and build on results. Your practitioner will discuss a recommended plan at your initial consultation.
Are there any contraindications?+
Emface is not suitable for individuals with certain implanted electronic devices (such as pacemakers or cochlear implants), metal implants in the treatment area, active skin conditions in the treatment area or certain medical conditions. Pregnancy is also a contraindication. Your practitioner will conduct a full screening at consultation to confirm suitability.
Is this treatment safe during pregnancy?+
Emface is not recommended during pregnancy. Please advise your practitioner before booking.
