Changes in skin firmness on the body are a common concern, particularly after pregnancy, weight changes or with age. Exion Body is a non-surgical, device-based treatment that may support skin laxity and texture in selected body areas. At Regenesis Aesthetic + Wellness in Kent Town, it forms part of our doctor-founded, medically based approach to skin and body concerns.
What is Exion Body?
Exion Body is an applicator on the BTL Exion platform. It delivers monopolar radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound energy at the same time. Built-in temperature monitoring allows the practitioner to keep the tissue within a controlled range throughout the session.
How the technology works
Radiofrequency energy warms the deeper layers of the skin, where collagen and elastin are produced. Targeted ultrasound works alongside it to support that heating process. Controlled heat may stimulate the skin's own remodelling activity over the following weeks. How the skin responds varies from person to person, and some people may not notice a change.
Areas commonly treated
Exion Body may be considered for areas where skin laxity or crepey texture is a concern, including:
Abdomen
Upper arms
Thighs
Knees
Buttocks
Your practitioner will assess whether the treatment is appropriate for the area you are concerned about.
Who may and may not be suitable
Exion Body may suit people with mild to moderate skin laxity who are looking for a non-surgical option. It may not be suitable for people with more significant laxity, who may benefit from a referral for other options.
It is not suitable for everyone. People who are pregnant, have certain metal implants or implanted electronic devices, have active skin infections, or have specific medical conditions may not be eligible. A full medical history is taken at your consultation before any treatment is recommended.
What to expect during a session
Your practitioner moves the applicator across the treatment area while the device monitors skin temperature. Most people describe a sensation of warmth. Session length depends on the size and number of areas treated.
Sessions, timing and how long changes may last
Number of sessions: a course of several sessions is generally recommended, spaced at intervals set by your practitioner.
When changes may appear: collagen remodelling is gradual, so any changes may develop over the weeks to months after a course rather than immediately.
How long changes may last: this varies with age, lifestyle, weight changes and natural ageing. Some people may consider maintenance sessions, which your practitioner will discuss only where clinically appropriate.
Potential risks and considerations
As with any energy-based treatment, side effects may occur. These may include temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling or tenderness in the treated area. Less commonly, blistering, burns or changes in skin sensation may occur. Your practitioner will explain the risks that apply to you before treatment.
Aftercare
Your practitioner will provide aftercare advice specific to you. This may include keeping well hydrated, avoiding very hot showers or saunas for a short period, and protecting treated skin from the sun.
